Derek is a native of the Zelienople-Harmony area where he attended Seneca Valley HS and was a member of the marching band, wind and jazz ensembles. While in high school he was also a member of the Youngstown Symphony Youth Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. Stephen Gage. He is currently a student at Slippery Rock University working on a degree in music education. He can be seen in a number of ensembles including wind, jazz, and jazz combo. His goals upon graduation include performing in pit orchestras  on Broadway, teaching, and trying out for the Blue Man Group. Also in the band for Seneca's productions of Joseph, Seussical, and West Side Story. Was Prom King Studies with Dr. David Glover
