Adam Valenti is from Cranberry Twp. and is the world-class bagpiper in The River Blackwater Band, a local Celtic Rock band. An experienced player of the Great Highland Bagpipes, as well as the Scottish smallpipes and he has begun to study the Irish Uilleann pipes, Adam has competed internationally. Adam is a longtime principal member of the Pittsburgh Firefighter's Memorial Pipe Band and a current member of the award winning Carnegie Mellon University Pipes and Drums. He has won numerous awards and is a current competitor with the Eastern United States Pipe Band Association(by membership one of the largest piping organizations in the world). Adam’s bagpiping precision rounds out The River Blackwater Band's large, Celtic sound, and his versatility allows for seamless transitions between pop- rock ballads and fire-driven jigs and reels. He is a student of Nick Hudson who recently graduated Carnegie Mellon University with a degree in Bagpipe Performance. Adam is also a pupil of Alasdair Gillies, who is widely regarded as the greatest piper alive, and the director of the bagpipe program at CMU. Adam is currently a senior at Slippery Rock University where he is studying history with certifiction in secondary education.
